”Challenges of Contemporary Publishing”

Centre of Scientific and Technical Information of Lublin University of Technology is pleased to invite you to the 2nd  International Scientific Conference ”Challenges of Contemporary Publishing”, which will be held in Lublin on 14th–15th May 2026, under the honorary patronage of the Rector of Lublin University of Technology.

The aim of the conference is to present the challenges faced by publishers, authors, and editors of scientific publications, as well as to collaboratively develop solutions to the encountered problems.

The topics discussed during the event will be related to the transformations occurring in scientific publishing models, particularly the increasingly widespread use of artificial intelligence in the publishing process, legal regulations concerning digital accessibility, and challenges associated with open access publishing.

The conference is aimed at a wide audience, including publishing house staff, employees of scientific institutions, researchers, and authors of publications.

The conference programme will be divided into thematic blocks that meet the challenges currently faced by scientific publishers, journal editors, and authors of scientific texts.

Scope of the conference:

  • Open access: issues related to the funding of open publications, challenges associated with sustaining the diamond publishing model; directions and prospects for the development of open access in Poland and worldwide; research findings on the impact of openness on scientific development;
  • Copyright law: a discussion on Polish copyright law in the context of the rights and obligations of authors publishing in scientific publishers as well as of the publishers themselves; considerations on how to address issues not regulated by Polish copyright law; a comparative reflection on the legal regulations of other countries;
  • Digital accessibility: principles, methods, as well as challenges related to adapting texts to digital accessibility standards;
  • Artificial intelligence: a discussion on the use of AI in the publishing process, AI limitations, as well as legal issues related to the use of AI tools and associated abuses.
